The Work of Art - Making Your Work Accessible

  • SPARK: York CIC 17-21 Piccadilly York, England, YO1 9NX United Kingdom (map)

A workshop for creatives who want to start embedding accessibility into their practice.

SLAP (Supporting Live Art and Performance) present 'The Work Of Art' in partnership with York Creatives. A workshop series for artists and creatives practicing any art form and at any point in their career.

These workshops will cover all aspects of the 'business side' of being an artist. In the current climate it is becoming essential to be able to promote your work and understand how to manage a business, to have a sustainable career in the arts.

This workshop will share how to make your creative work more accessible. The workshop is presented by Emma Roberts from blueglassesgirl.

In this practical workshop Emma will:

  • Briefly outline types of disability in uk and various access needs of the disabled community

  • Explore some of the Barriers disabled people face when engaging with live arts

  • Mind map creative ways in which you can respond, interact, engage with disabled communities to encourage and increase participation

Places are free but you need to book using the form below.

The workshop is taking place before York Creative Drinks, so do stay around afterwards to meet other creatives in the city. Book your place here.
